Post by: ToCatchAThief on May 13, 2005, 04:00:02 PM
How do I get the x10 to send me an email
only when motion is detected?

What I do is have my camera receiver running
into my computer and am running software
called "active webcam" ( pysoft.com ). It
has a function that will email you if motion
is detected.

You can also use the Xray Vision software
(www.x10.com/xrv) to send a snapshot to your
email when motion is detected.

I would get a motion detector that just
picks up things that are alive, those
cameras with the motion detection software
are BS as everytime the wind blows, a leave,
a tree branch moves, you get E-mailed a
picture of nothing, they come with alarms
too, I hooked mine up, man what a mess, the
bottom line, don't buy unless you are going
to put it in a fish bowl, remember, no
blowing wind or as AOL says, Welcome you
have mail.
