Post by: DABO on May 25, 2005, 04:39:40 PM
After setting up the system; when  motion
is detected, the commander starts emmitting
beeps. This is annoying. Can anyone help??

there is a setting to turn it from home mode
to away mode, it's in the instruction manual
on what button to press.

You do have to put the VCR Commander 2
into "away" mode if you don't want it
beeping when it detects motion. To do this,
simply press and hold the stop button until
you hear a long beep. The unit is then
in "away" mode.

But if I am at home why do I have to set the
unit to the away mode to stop it from
beeping. This seems backwards to me. There
should be a way to shut the beeps off while
at home without telling the unit I am away.
Setting this to away while I am at home will
cause recording to start every time I move
about the house. What happens if I am
watching a tape and the motion sensor sees
movement. Do I then record over the tape I
am watching?

The instructions say:

When the On command is received, the VCR
Commander will issue the programmed IR
sequence to the VCR to "Record".

More On commands (signals of further
motion) within 5 minutes will be ignored.

If no more On commands are seen within 5
minutes (no further motion), the VCR
Commander will issue the IR “Stop” command
--------------------------------------
So if a on command is received after (4)
minutes will the command be ignored? or
will the 5 minutes start from that point?

If the 5 minutes start from that point,
then more On commands are NOT IGNORED.

If the 5 minutes start at the first ON
command then will it STOP after 5 minutes
all the time  -  More On commands (signals
of further motion) within 5 minutes will be
ignored.............???????

My wife says, this sounds like my Hearing.

I find the beeping is a good way to test
out the sensors for placement etc.  When
I'm home and I dont' want any recording, I
just unplug the emitter but leave the unit
in away mode.
