Title: camera command issues
Post by: joemerchant on August 22, 2005, 11:04:24 AM
I have 3 floodcams, 2 nightwatch cams, and 2 wireless
color cams.

The problem I have is that I cannot turn them on and off
reliably with the remote.

I know one camera has to go off before one goes on, but I
can't reliably get them on and off.

I can activate/deactivate some reliably, but not all. I have
two transceivers. Do I need another?

Sometimes two tranceivers can be more
problems. If both are in range of the remote
and on the same house code. They can both
send an X10 line signal and step on each
other. Mostly happens with the TM751 as it
has no X10 line receiver and blindly send
what it receives. RR501s and the receiver in
the cm15a are polite and retransmit when the
line is clear. Now could this be a phase
problem? Most homes are on a split pahse and
signals on one half of the houses wiring has
trouble getting to the other phase. Do you
have any type of phase couplers? If you have
a 220 device like a dryer try the cameras
with it on. Not a 100% tests but sometimes
shows a phase loss issue. Also some
electronic devices like computers TVs etc.
can suck up X10 signals. You may want to try
tests with varried electronic devices
unpluged [off isn't enough].
