Title: Audio and receivers?
Post by: dude on September 14, 2005, 12:13:45 PM
I have a question about audio? Anyone knows
why in every video package x10 just includes
the video only receiver? Another problem I
have is whan I look at what's included they
show the instant on wide angel cam but it's
mentioned receiver not included. what does
it mean? I talked to support but didn't get
a straight answer. What do I need to get
video and audio and do I need additial parts
for the instant on? Here is the link for the
parts list included: http://www.x10.com/cgi-
bin/viewparts.cgi?XX20A-SP-5CMK3NPW-PS1188

Thanks

Link doesn't work, even when you take out
the spaces added by the forum. What package
are you looking at?

The instant on cameras have a different
power supply and connector. Basically the
instant on versions keep the CCD [image
sensor that needs time to charge if off]
powered on and the sending part switched on
and off as the cameras are selected. The
power supplies are addressable just like
most modules. So if it isn't instant on as
sold look for the instant on models.

IT seems like they don't have the 5cam
system anymore. But it's the same list with
the 4 cam system.

Does anyone know if/when X10 will support
camera audio in their PC SW applications?
Seems like a waste not to be able to listen
to camera audio on a PC.

When I bought packages they let me upgrade
the receivers to audio/video for $10.

Dennis,

X10's only has a USB input cable for video
(you know this), noone knows what or when
X10 will bring out anything new is my
experience. Best you can do is get an RCA
cable that adapts from the audio out of
your receiver to the microphone input of
your PC and run an audio recording app
(Sound Recorder built into WinXP, look in
accessories)simultaneously with the video
app. This is limited to simple applications.

Don't ever give x10 your email address
unless you want to get tons of spam from
them.

Thanks for the info. I will not buy anything
from x10 after I checked a lot of other
postings and learned about all the problems
they have. Thanks to all that post the
problems and talk about their service.
