Title: Need advise before buying X10 system
Post by: bronco on December 31, 2005, 01:57:24 PM
I would like to purchase this system for my
small business

c_1220.html
i need some advise if this system is as
good as advertised and if anyone has
purchased it and used it.

is the remote internet access any good?
why don't they have a sample live system to
show their customers?
is there any catch for such a cheap system?

You may want to also look at messages in the
X10 AHP Forums. Where some of the newer
stuff has a separate area.

Also there is lots of information on all
modes of Automation on the accessha web page.

Want something for nothing?  You are ripe
to be taken to the proverbial cleaners!

I just bought a camera. I have it in the
front hall. Even with a light it seems very
dark. In dimmer light a thief would be
invisible. I seems it is  only good for the
times when thieves don't work. In my initial
experience, there seems to be a high rate of
failure/junk on their specials. In a package
of 4 items I got 1 door sensor with the
sticky pads gone and missing screw. Obviously
used before and returned by someone. The
other sensor was missing a magnet piece. In
another freebee package I got a VCR commander
that doesn't work. I wouldn't invest a lot at
once and read many more reviews, many of
which may be by company shills. I now have to
go to the trouble of returning this stuff. It
could be tough. Then they can charge me to
restock this stuff and send it to someone
else. Maybe half their profits come from
people who can't be bothered to send it back?
I understand to get a refund on any free
stuff you have to return the good stuff as
well. What a pain when it is already stuck or
screwed to the wall. It woulod better if I
could keep the stuff that woorks rather than
shake all the dice again. I will not order
any more high tech stuff until I am satisfied
with what I have.

OK, WOW! PHEW!!!
I was really enticed by x10 surveillance
cam system prices and claims of excellent
customer support and had almost $1000 of
product in my shopping cart when I decided
to explore the site and found all the
forums. There is an OMG plethora of really
bad posts in EVERY SINGLE Forum.
Thanks! I will invest elsewhere!!!

You get what you pay for. I bought a 3
camera package that had 2 wide angle color
and one low light with the pan/tilt bases,
software etc. There is no doubt their
software sucks, especially the remote and
mutliview but I worked around it by using
third party software for streaming to a
webpage and I just use XP's Remote Desktop
to control them via Firecracker if I want
to do it from a remote computer. That's
been the best combination for me. Was it
worth the 300.00? I suppose considering
better quality wireless remote controlled
cameras are at least that much per camera.

Man i was about to place an order for a
system but after hearing all the problems
everyone is having never mind i will go
else where. Apparently the idiots who run
this company dont realize that a forum like
this where their getting bashed is really
hurting there business. Oh well nothing
like losing money.....
