Title: car cam
Post by: mike k on January 06, 2006, 12:28:16 AM
Has anyone wired a x10 camera to the 12 volt
system in a car? I want to do this with a
wireless cam sending the signal back to the
house, seems like a good way to get close up
picture's in the yard/driveway and easy to
move the cam/car to differant locations, the
lifespan of the x10 battery pack is far too
short. A cig. lighter adapter would be a
good option for this. Anyone done this??

I ordered my x10 just for this purpose.
Actually, to use as a backup camera for my
RV. Haven't hooked it up yet, but a guy on
trailerlife.com forums gave me the idea.  He
said it's a piece of cake.

Should work power wise. Since most of the
cams are now instant on. You have to wire
the unswitched and switched +12 volt
connections together and to the +12 volts of
the battery supply.
You may have to play with the antennas of
both the cam and the receiver as they are
directional.

You need a "Mirror image" camera which will
reverse the image.  Go to Ebay and search
for "WIDE ANGLE CAMERA" and a whole bunch
of "keyhole cameras" will show up which
vave integrated mirror images.  They are
much cheaper also.  Many vendors and types,
too.
