does your cheap camera come with a lens cap?
X10 has a clear cover over the lens that
protects it from weather and dust/dirt that
can be cleaned.

I have a wired B/W camera hanging on a tree
limb. I installed it 2-1/2 years ago and it
has been powered-on the whole time, through
all kinds of weather extremes in northeast
USA, with the clear lens cap on. Recently I
decided to clear the "fog", so I removed the
cap and wiped the moisture out, and replaced
it. Now my image is back to crystal-clear.
From baking hot sun to sub-freezing
temperatures, from 60mph wind gusts to raw
nasty rain, this cam is still in perfect
condition.
