Title: X10 Infrared Receiver
Post by: fred on November 26, 2005, 02:02:57 PM
Is there an infrared receiver that will
allow the X10 automation system to work
with my logitech 880 infrared remote?

Can it send IR X10 IR Commands?
X10 makes an IR to Powerline interface that
can take an IR X10 signal and send it over
the powerline.
IR543

Trying to get UR74A learning remote to control an IR543-   manual says use code 998 but that still seems to send RF X10 and not IR X10  - any ideas?

Manual says 998 is for X10 IR.
The sequence of hold setup untill LED is steady on.
Then push and release the X10 button.
Then code in 998.
Isn't working?
Also remember that the house code on the IR543 and the house code the remote is set to must match.

Yeah- surprisingly,  998 is not working...   I can check the house code but the IR543 is not lighting up or anything... no indication that IR is being received.  RF control works fine... in fact, when I enter 998,  the remote STILL controls things through my transciever and not the IR  (So the RF housecode at least is fine).   It's like it is not taking the "998" code...   The LED on the remote blinks as per the manual... I think I am following the instructions...   Maybe I'll see if it takes any codes to program say my TV or something...   I wonder what the problem is...

correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the housecode on the ir543 is irrelevant to it's ability to recieve. The x10 ir protocol only includes unit numbers, so the house code setting on the ir543 only services to rout the signal to the proper units. If your ir remote sends x10 codes, it sends them independent of house code. The ir543 receives a generic 'unit number' 'command' and then sends it out on whatever house code it is set for on the power line.

bigbear1969; Yes you are correct. My house code reminder was only for reference if the remote was coaxed into IR mode. If it confused the issue; I am sorry. Many use more than one house code so one has to be picked for the IR543.

OK- so hear is the issue... if I try to program  999  or  998 into the X10 code...  the LED flashes rapidly for a second or so after the last keypress... when i program a valid code into the TV mode...  the LED simply shuts off after the last keypress.

Seems like it is not recognizing 999   or   998.

Tried to do a reset as per the manual... no improvement.

Probably a defective device I guess huh??

Try 014.
It should not be for your model as it is for the UR19a; but nothing gained by not trying it.

Thanks... no dice.  Man this is depressing.  I am so close to having this project done but alas---

Maybe I can find another remote that controls X10 and buy it and then have this one learn the codes...

Thanks again.

kevinvinv,

http://www.x10pro.com/pro/pdf/pur09-codelist.pdf

Codelist for UR74A shows #780 as the code for X10 commands.
Try it.

I use a Logitech 628 with my home theater Here is what I did  (http://davesdomainonline.com/ht/ht.htm)

I think I may have had to call....or email Logitech to get the remote to program correctly. But now it turns off the correct lights at movie start-up (watch DVD). It also turns on a seperate set-up at movies end (off).

Great remote!!!! But it eats batteries.
