Title: Can lightning cause alarm to trigger?

Yesterday we had what we believe were two
false alarms on our system (x10 Powerhouse
PS561). The first time the alarm went off, we
of course  received the phone call and got in
the car to get home. We were underway about 5
to 10 minutes when we received a second call
from the system. Upon arriving home we could
see nothing amiss. There was however an
incredible electrical storm (and then
thunderstorm) brewing overhead. We saw
numerous lightning flashes but do not believe
any strikes hit us, or near us.

My question: Can intense lightning activity
set off the alarm?

(I should perhaps mention that we have an
electric I-Beam hooked into a door/window
sensor sending module and this was the one
that set off the alarm)

Any comments appreciated!

What is this I-beam that you mentioned?

It's a separate unit (ie. not x10) that sends
a beam (?infrared) from a transmitter on one
side of our property to a receiver on the
other side. When the beam is broken, it sets
off the x10 alarm. We've had it for a few
years now and it's a solid unit, not cheaply
made or anything like that.
