Title: ?? Armed light??

we use the door from the garage to the house
as our primary entry.
the console (DS 7000) is on the other side
of the house.
when i leave for work at 4 am my wife gets
up to rearm it, i cant hear it chime.
The one minute of beeping is not a option,
arming in delay mode, not with a 15 month
and a 1 month old child.
Im looking for a way to get a light to come
on when i arm the system.
i have a powerflash interface and i know
there is a brain that knows how i can get
something , somehow to make it work for my
problem.
Anybody got a idea??
i thank you in advance for a tip.

Ken, get an LED detector (a light sensor),
place it over the alarm armed LED on the
DS7000 console and connect it to a
Powerflash which can then turn on a remote
light when armed (and off when not armed.)

DWD where can you get a light sensor and

The powerflash is an X10 module that can
send an X10 ON; for a set house/unit code
signal; on the power line when a set of
contacts is closed and to send the OFF
signal when it is opened. The sensor would
be wired to the contacts so it would act
like a closure when the armed led is on.

Did a small test. My only detector in my
parts box was an infrared sensative one, but
for the test it was ok. With the Powerflash
set to Input B and Mode 3. I shined a bright
flashlight on the detector and the unit sent
the house/unit code ON signal and a off when
the flashlight was removed. Off the top of
my head I don't have a part number for a
detector other then a Radio Shack 276-145
but that too is a infrared type. The
detector is a transistor so the way it was
connected matters.

Its a little pricey, but the LED detector I
use is: http://www.smarthome.com/8013.HTML

I cut the LED detector wire off right at the
round thing in the center of this probe
assembly.  Then stripped a little off the
wires so they could be attached to a
Powerflash set to Input B and Mode 3.
Works fine for me.

Are you saying that if I take each wire
coming off the RS 276-145 probe and attach
them to the Powerhouse and set up the probe
over the ARMED LED so no light can get in,
that setup will work??

The RS number was what looked similar to the
one I tried. It may or may not act like the
one I used.
