Title: arm/disarm X10 security
Post by: attaboyky on June 12, 2005, 02:24:03 PM
Does the X10 system use a security code to
arm/disarm? For example, do I enter a four
digit security code to arm/disarm?

If you only need the remote to arm and
disarm, then all the bad guy needs to do is
hit disarm on the console or find a remote to
disarm it.

attaboyky: Having worked in security
systems, I know that all security systems
have some areas of concern. For the price of
the X10's DS7000, it is a great value, even
when compared to more expensive systems. The
X10 security system uses remotes to arm or
disarm (no keypads). Use the keychain remote
when you want to arm or disarm from a
vehicle. The hand held remote can be placed
anywhere, including out of sight. Someone
could still pick up the DS7000 console and
smash on floor. But they could also do
damage to any security system you may have
once they are inside your home. To slow that
down, I mounted my DS7000 at 11 ft. in a
room with a high ceiling. I would hope that
the flashing lights & loud sirens would
hasten there departure.
