Title: ds 7000 lights flashing
Post by: bill on July 10, 2005, 05:01:56 PM
My ds 7000 console has been working fine
for about a year. Today I noticed the
lights were flashing on and off. Light #1
flashes on when lights #2-8 flash off. This
has been continuos for hours. I cannot arm
the alarm or control any of the lights
connected through the handheld control pad.
I unplugged the unit from the wall and
replugged it. The battery is good so that
made no difference.
Pressing the arm button from a remote or
handheld control pad seems to do nothing.
Pressing the disarm button button causes 2
beeps as though it is disarming the system,
but it is not armed and the armed light
does not turn on.
What could have caused this problem? Will I
need to remove the battery and reprogram
everything or is this a sign of a failing
ds 7000 that will need to be replaced?

Maybe sick. You may want to try the whole
reset thing. Remove battery and disconnect
the AC. Then try again. If it still is flaky
sounds like it failed.

This problem is because it is not receiving
signal for the Sensors, you need to replace
the batteries on your D/w  and Infrarred
Sensors

Try changing your house code, on your
ds7000, and on your lamp modules.

Sounds like a battery in one of you sensors.
Bad part is you have to reset the rest of
the sensors.

I've had my DS 7000 for 10 yrs now, the
base unit is very durable.  I've upgraded
the system from the original 9volt sensors
to the new door/window & motion sensors
with no problems.
It appears your system has lost the codes
for the sensors.  A good way to check is to
move the switch in the upper right corner
to the "install" mode - if none of the zone
lights come on then your entire system
needs to be re-initialized (including the
remotes).  Re-initialize your system the
same way you first did.
If some of the zone lights go on when you
move the sitch to "install" then change
batteries on those that do not and hit
the "test" button to reconnect.  Lastly
with the switch still in "install" mode you
need to press a button on the remote to
reconnect it to the system.  Your recorded
message and programmed phone #'s should be
OK, but I recommend you redo those anyway
(better safe than sorry).
