Over a period of about 6 years all (about
10) of the wall switches stopped working.

I don't know if the lightning resistance
(power surge) is any better these days -
wish I did know - but back when this stuff
came out I spent a lot of money on it just
to watch it all burn out like clockwork.

I personally have been involved with X10
almost since it came on the market. I have
learned that it is important to  understand
how the product works or, more  important
to know what makes it fail before I pass
it on. I have used X10 in applications
that  include Nightclubs
(jimmiestewart.com,  select the link to
X10), Restaurants,  Catering Halls, major
corporation  Boardrooms, Churches, Funeral
Homes, etc. I even used X10  when I was
retained to coordinate the  appearance of
President of the United  States
(jimmiestewart.com, select the link  to GHW
Bush). There are wrinkles with a lot of the
X10  products. Learning what they are and
how to  get around them has made me a lot
of money  over the years. I must admit that
I lost 2 modules within a 6 month period. I
would have complained except for the fact
that they were 18+ years old. I still have
modules that date back to the early 80's
and they are still working well. There are
a lot of applications for X10 products that
sometimes surprise even the people at X10.
An example would be the 600  watt dimmer.
How many know how to make the  dimmer work
in a 1900 watt system?

I have been using the X10 security systems
for more than three years.  I have never had
any problems.  I lived alone in southern
Mexico for 2 years and thanks to X10 and the
knowledge of the locals that I had it, my
house was never broken into--even though it
was common for my neighbors who were local
fishermen.  I realize X10 stuff has to be
pampered a little but for the price the
effort is worth it!

People that have had little or no trouble is
defiantly not typical, although I must admit
some of the stuff works flawlessly. I had an
x10 counsel and alarm system worked
perfectly for a year then came home and the
unit was just buzzing thank God no one broke
in that day! I did replace it and the new
unit appears to be working fine but as with
all x10 products only time will tell.

I've used x10 for several months and, had a
few quirks, but all in all, the system does
do its job.  Now, like any electronic
stuff, it does not work perfectly some of
the time.  That is why there are tv
repairmen, auto mechanics, camera
repairmen, and some of them do good
business.
For its cheap price, it does a good "budget
buy" job. I'm sure there are more reliable
system out there for ten times the price.

I wish that I had read this before I lost my
money.
This x10 is trully a crappy product.

Can a system be controlled by two consoles
together?  One in a different location?  I
have a DS7000.  Any help would be
appreciated.  Thanks.

Can one use two console in different
locations with the DS7000 system?  That way
one can control it from, say, a front and
back door.  Thanks for the help.

Why are so many posts to this thread
repeated? Are the posters goofing up, or is
it the X10 software for this forum?

Well, I hate to say it, folks, but it's not
the X10 forum software. ;>)

Jim C. It is their software. If you get a
timeout error it some how dupes the message.
Also X10Pro in the AHP forums area. Posted a
message saying they turned OFF the notify
feature, that notifies you if another post
is in a thread you are active in. I was
getting like 5-10 messages of new posts in a
message called "."
