Title: Knowing if system is armed or not
Post by: rick on November 09, 2005, 06:39:59 PM
We live in a two story house and usually
exit via the garage downstairs.  The
Protector Plus is upstairs and we can't
hear the chime to know if it is armed or
not.  Is there something we can put in the
garage (control a light) to let us know if
the system is armed or not?

Hey Rick.  If you arm the system in the
delay mode with the big remote control (Arm
Away and switch on big remote set to MAX),
the security light will go on and the bell
will sound for one minute while you hide the
control and exit the house.  When the minute
passes, the system will arm and the security
light will go out...so put the security
light where you can see it from outside the
house.  Hope this helps.  PLEASE NOTE: There
are some of us working on a modification to
the _PH508_PowerHorn_Siren_ which will allow
it to beep like the console when arming and
disarming:  Swapping out the C13 22uF
capacitor on the printed circuit board with
a 1uF capacitor.  Also, a modification to
allow an external siren connection.

We have a light that hangs over our dining
room table.   It is turned on by an x10
switch.  So after arming it lights for one
minute and we can see it through the window
in daylight or dark.  So when it goes out
we know that alarm is armed.
