Title: How to wire an old 3-way stair lamp with 1 hard and 1 remote switch using X10?
Post by: beady on January 04, 2006, 09:59:44 AM
Hello, I'm having my old stairway removed,
and a new one built.  In the process a wall
which had my lower stairway light switch has
been removed.  The other wall is solid brock
and I can't run a switch to it cleanly.

I want to use a switch hardwired in the
existing upstairs location, and a remote
switch, such as the SS13A downstairs, just
stuck on the brick wall.

The electrician is comming over in a couple
hours, and I need to be able to tell him how
to wire stuff up.

I have been searching for info since last
night, but I ma really short on time now, as
the electrician will be here soon.  So, if
anyone could PLEASE help me out, I'd greatly
appreciate it.  I am NOT asking how to wire
a 2-way or 3-way switch, etc, I know all
that stuff.  I need reccomendations on
exactly what pieces of hardware I need to
purchase, and a product or wiring manual to
show the electrician so he can run the
appropriate wires.

Thank you very much for any help,

Mike

You will have to use a TM751 or RR501 to
receive the signal from the SS13A and
transmit it over the powerline to your X10
hard wired switch upstairs.
