Title: Activity Monitor or Always ON logging of events
Post by: age on November 04, 2004, 07:48:34 PM
Activity Monitor ALWAYS logging events.  It
would be great that the Activity Monitor
just becomes a reporting tool. All events
should be recorded constantly as a running
log or at least it could be a FLAG control
in the PREFERENCES section.

Could you clarify this?  It sounds as though
you want the Activity Monitor to always be
logging.  Doesn't it do that now?

The activity monitor always does monitor but
could me made more functional but having
filters, sort capabilities, detail/summary
mode, the ability to select and copy at a
minimum to it can be put into a spreadsheet
so it can be filtered and/or sorted.

I would like for the activity monitor to
show whether the event was generated by
a 'sensed' trigger, or a timed macro from
the CM15A's stored program, or manually from
the AHP's Windows interface.

I don't think that the comments by Burdy
could be made to work since there is no
module ID sent out that Activity Monitor
could use to differeniate between the
various sources of commands. Each
device/module would have to have a unique
ID code to identify the source. The current
best is whether the command was sent or
received, the address and the command.

I like the idea of having the ability to turn
off logging.  In addition, I would like to
have the ability to turn off logging on
certain house codes. I have four cameras on
motion sensors which log all the time.  When
in "rotation" mode I get a log entry every
two seconds.  This fills the log real quick.

I'd like use the log as a diagnostic tool,
not a trash bin.
