Title: Better quality capture hardware / software.
Post by: raym on October 02, 2005, 12:10:42 PM
Hi,

Food for thought:

A capture system with better video quality
than the current VA11A hardware and/or
driver would be great.

I have a WinTV-PVR USB2 recorder that
provides much better capture quality with
the same wired camera. My problem there is
that I cannot capture video on X10 events as
with iWitness. I realise that the WinTV
hardware is about twice the cost but I would
be willing to pay for the extra quality.

I recently upgraded one of my X10 color
cameras. I briefly considered the 'Vanguard'
camera as a substitute. I bought a third
party's camera, mainly because, spending
$500+ on a camera puts you
into 'professional' video territory. The
VA11A seems poor at capturing high quality
video. Why pay for a 'professional' camera
when you can only capture 'average' video?

By the way, I would like to know what was
used to record the video on the 'Vanguard'
camera web page. It sure wasn't a VA11A, at
least not like mine.

Regards,

Ken

i agree, with the sentinel running analog to a tv or vcr the picture quality is great, through the VA11A it is terrible. im thinking a 4 channel capture card is the ticket

All capital messages are also harder to read and are less likely to get responses.
