Post by: ryan burger on August 31, 2005, 11:00:21 PM
I want to buy 10-20 of the MouseRemotes at

for contractors.

Ryan,

Thank you for your interest in the X10
Contractor Program!

We do have a 5 pack special on the Mouse
Remote for $159.99 (MK19A)

Four of those 5-packs would give you 20 and
put your total purchase over $500 -
the amount needed for you, an X10
Contractor, to get an extra 15% off.
However, the software that runs the remote
must be WIN98 or earlier
and the receiver has to plug into a PS/2
port.

X10 has a dedicated sales staff to sign you
up and take your order. They can be reached
at 888-455-5658.

When do you expect to have an update to the software?  So
that we can use it with XP.

Ryan,
1]We do not offer a USB Mouse Remote - check
your documentation and/or invoice for the
SKU and description
2]We do not expect to update the Mouse
Remote software now or in the future.

I found the one we had...it's a JR20A and a
JR21A - The same one as you sell now it
looks like.  It has a 9 pin serial port
cord that plus into a serial on the
computer and a PS2 on the side for input.

According to your site it appears to be the
same one.

True?

The MK19A is a kit that contains the JR20A
and JR21A.

What is the quoted range on those?  I'm
doing some comparison shopping on units and
need to quote them out a bit.  Do you OEM
them with just the mouse and remote....I
don't need any packaging or software or
anything but those two parts.

Hi,
I too am interested in the XP driver for the
JR21A.  I'm not a programmer; so I'm not sure
how exactly to say -- Why wouldn't you
service the equipment you sell?  That's like
selling me a new car, but not giving me the
keys?!  Maybe I'm just getting in late on
this and there's one out... It really would
be incredibly wild if this could happen!
Kind Regards,
Bob

I have a MouseRemote too. I got mine a few
years ago and was very happy with it while I
was using Win98, and at that time was
considering buying other devices too, but
since I've upgraded to XP and realized you no
longer provide support for this product it
has made me very leary about buying another
product from you.

I seriously hope your company will
re-consider updating the drivers for Mouse
Remote. I would pay to get them even.

It's more like selling you a Daewoo... You got the keys when you bought it. You just can't get any parts... Is it any wonder Daewoo is defunct? I see the same end for the x10 brand if they choose to remain in the past.

Do you guys seriously expect customers keep coming back if you just stop offering worthwhile soloutions to ever evolving technology? I mean come on, isn't technology your flagship? It's absoloutly absurd to have to run an obsolete OS and/or use a seperate computer (running an obsolete OS) to control your "Futuristic" home. It's like putting a Geo engine in a Ferarri.

Anyway that's my two cents, I've about had it with x10.com The slightly higher prices that SmartHome charges are worth it. They rely on their reputation, and customer support, rather than a bunch of quick sales.

Our new Google Remote (http://www.googleremote.com/) offers most of the same features as the original MouseRemote, and it works on XP. While we're marketing it for use with specific applications, it really is a general-purpose PC remote with mouse control functions. It uses a USB RF receiver instead of the serial/PS/2 one the MouseRemote users.

Hi

I have a JR20E and JR21E Mouse Remote with Serial connection which I use to run AutoHotKey scripts on my PC to control an audio video playout DJ/VJ program OtsAV. Can you confirm that the Google Remote would operate in the same manner as the JR20E/JR21E Mouse Remote in this regard?

What is the useable range of the Google Remote?

Thanks

I found this link and downloaded and ran the program, the JR20A mouse and JR21A sender are working with XP Pro.
I can move the mouse around OK and select programs, etc with the back buttons.
X10 may not give approval to this program, but it did work for me.

PM me number two. Since the board is supported by X10, have you tried Ebay?
