Motion sensor
« on: December 03, 2005, 04:09:07 PM »

I installed a RWS17 Decorator style wall
swithc/dimmer to control outside lights. I
am trying to use an Active Eye motion
sensor to turn on the light. Both units are
set at E2. I can control the uit through
Active Honme. The sensor turns the light on
according to Active Home but at zero on the
dimmer so no light. I tried changing the
unit to a non-dimmedd switch on Active Home
and still got the same result. Active Hone
show the unit on but no light. The sensor
is set to not turn on during the day but I
am keeping it in a dark place to
experiment. However, it is sending the
signal but the lights do not really turn on.

To ensure that the motion sensor works, try setting it so that it controls a lamp module (LM465 or equiv) at the same house/unit setting that you want to control the light switch with. The sensor can be placed anywhere for this test, but if you have the sensor set to work only at night, you may have test it out in a darkened room. You might also have to first turn the lamp on and then off with the controller before the sensor will take over control.

If this test works, then the only other reason that the sensor may not be working with the light switch is the proximity of the sensor to the controller. Also, check the batteries in the sensor. Low batteries will not give as strong a signal as new batteries will.
