Hi.  Is there a way to set up my stereo receiver to work with this 5 in 1 remote?  I tried setting it up under the cable option and it seems to work except for turning back on.  I can turn it off but not on. Any ideas?

Thanks :)

I take it... that the stereo receiver has a seperate command for ON than OFF? By that I mean pushing OFF a 2nd time won't turn it back on.

gina: Which 5-in-1 remote are you using, the UR73A or the UR74A?

If it's the UR74A (the learning one) you can program some of the buttons if there is something different about your stereo receiver / original remote (as Dave_x10_L is asking).

Thats right! And.....Some of the higher-end audio stuff has seperate On and OFF commands.

Hi- Yes, it has a separate on and off button.  I am using the UR74A.  I tried the learn function to use a separate button for the ON function but it froze up the controller.  The light stayed on rather than going off and none of the buttons would work.  I took the batteries out and tried again but with the same result.  Are there specific buttons that can or cannot be used while learning for a stereo receiver?

Thanks for all of your responses.

I do recall that only certain buttons can be learned. I know the "A", "B", "C" & "D" buttons can, so maybe try something like "A" = ON & "B" = OFF.

I found some info here (at the knowledgebase):

Make sure you have fresh batteries in both remotes before learning.
Take care not to move either remote while pressing the buttons.
Experiment with the distance between the remotes if you have a problem learning.
Some remotes do not have their LED in the center so you might need to experiment with the side-to-side position of the remotes relative to each other.
Do not sit directly under an incandescent lamp while teaching the Remote.
In most cases you hold the button on the remote you are learning from until the LED goes out on the Learning Remote. In some cases however, you might find that the LED on the Learning Remote doesnââ,¬â,,¢t go out until you release the key on the remote you are learning from.
