Macros not working correctly
« on: November 17, 2006, 03:58:46 PM »

Ive been an X10 and Home Control user for many years. I recently upgraded to ActiveHome Pro and the CM15A USB controller. I have numerous modules of various kinds and numerous macros. These all worked correctly with the old software and old controller. I imported the "my home" data file from the old software to the new software. Now when macro execute lights are turning on that are not referenced in the macro. Macros don't execute when they are supposed to, etc.

I asked X10 tech support for help they (Eric Boyd) responded with scrap the imported file and re-enter all the modules, macros and timers. I'll do this if it is really necessary. It means a ton of extra work. Is this a  known problem and is there anything that I'm missing or should be doing that I am not?
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to ActiveHome Pro! ::)

Yep, well known! How much reading did you do here *BEFORE* you upgraded? :-[

I'm still running my OLD CM11A w/ActiveHome v1.32 in parallel with my NEW CM15A w/ActiveHome Pro v3.204. I *KNEW* ahead of time not to expect much. I bought it for the "challenge / excitement / puzzles". 8)

You can start reading here:

and then continue with my other posts from around that date and forward about 4 weeks. I believe that I've covered *MOST* of the problems. Please let me know if I missed any! ;)

Welcome a board!

I've seen a file that was converted from the old CM11A w/ActiveHome v1.32  ( courtesy of TTA ) and it was riddled with errors!

Depending on how large of a setup you have will determine  the amount errors that will be present! ::) ;)

Try to do as TTA suggests! It will take a lot of time reading and  experimenting to get a stable setup! ;)

The wonders of upgrades! ::)

IS anything easy anymore? ;)

Nope!  I just let HP's auto update "update" the software & drivers for one of their "All-In-One's" at work and couldn't print again until I removed the drivers and re-installed them from the original CD!  After which, I re-ran the auto update (which now only found 1 update) and all is well again!   ???

Lesson?  If it ain't broke, don't update it?  Unless of course you want all of the new bells & whistles, then just be prepared to knuckle-down and fix it.  :)

In the real world, the only constant is change.

I don't recall seeing AHP point out any ERRORS. It just didn't want to work correctly. >:(

Even MANUALLY entering *ALL* of the CM11A/AH information required *TOO MANY* 'Band-Aids', IMHO, to get the CM15A/AHP working *ALMOST* as good as the CM11A/AH. >:(

AHP doesn't point out the errors! The conversion just forgets to add some needed info in order for some things to work!

I don't remember the exact problems that I seen But I remember looking through some macros and remember thinking "no wonder you had to redo the file manually!" ;)

TTA if you still have the original converted file open it and look through it!

I'm sure you'll see the errors now that you  have ran AHP for a while and under stand how AHP works! ;) :D

I never looked any farther than the macros so there may have been other errors! ::) ;) :D
