Do you mean with a remote?

If so, take a look at this post: dim lights

Sounds like your CM15A is not set to Transceive the house code your switch is on. If this is not the problem, please provide more info;)

the cma15 is set to trancieve the house code (D) that the 6381 is set to. howver i just checked the signal strength at the outlet the cma15a is plugged into and i am getting a reading of 50 mV. most all of my other outlets in the house show 200mV. I do have  a  leviton HCA02 amplifier/repeater installed

If you can manually click the switch in AHP and it works, then the signal is getting from the CM15A to the 6381.

But I'm still not understanding what you mean by: "will not turn on or off just by running it thru the intrerface cm15a"

Please give more detail to what is not working for you. Thanks.

In your initial post, what you have described does not make sense, unless I am not reading correctly. You have said that the 6381 works when triggered by AHP (the CM15A outputs that signal) BUT the 6381 "will not turn on or off just by running it thru the interface cm15a".

So the CM15A puts out a stronger signal when triggered by AHP than when triggered by a programmed macro or a RF remote? (I am deriving that from the "but it will not turn on or off just by running it thru the intrerface cm15a" statement).

And you indicate a signal of 50mv at the CM15A outlet. Is this FROM the CM15A, or from some other unnamed source?

What is the signal level at 6381, or at least on the same branch?

dave, puck- thanks for your time. puck, when i disconnect the cm15a from the computer and plug  it into its normal location in another room, this is when it not working.
dave -  the signal level of 50mv is from the top plug of the wall plug the cm15a is plugged into while connected to the computer. the signal level of the branch of the 6381 is 200mv.
Thanks

Then it sounds like you have a signal sucker and / or noise in that path between the CM15A & the 6381.

Keep in mind that some outlets have the 2 sockets on different lines (breakers). This is generally done in areas where multiple high current appliances will be used (I.E. In the kitchen).

i think you are right. it just dawned on me that all source of noise is present at this particular location - computer, monitor, printer, surge protector and battery back up . moved the cm15a back to its regular location and every x10 module worked fine . i add many modfules at this time of the year for my christmas lighting and all of them are up and running.
thanks
