WS467 wall switch creates voltage drop
« on: February 08, 2007, 08:02:27 PM »

It seems that having installed the WS467 the light that it controls seems dimmer than before its installation.  Could it have caused a voltage drop?  It does not respond to my "mini timer", but does to a manual on/off.  Any thoughts for a fix?

The WS467 should not have caused a noticeable dimming when you turn it on manually. What type of light bulb do you have it connected to?

Unless the WS467 is defective (because of the other issue), the Mini-Timer not being able to control it is most likely noise or signal loss. Try plugging the Mini-Timer into an outlet that is on the same circuit as the WS467 (if you haven't already).

alvineli you may also want to check to see if your wiring connections are making a good connection and not warm. If the wiring was tarnashed bad or is loose you can get a voltage drop and the connection will heat up. This type of connection will also effect the X10 signal by blocking it or creating noise.

To get power to run the WS467 there is a small voltage drop across it and this is normal.
Most installations it is not that obvious. Try what has been suggested for possible problems.
