V572RF32 Questions
« on: May 14, 2008, 10:26:50 AM »

I am stating what I've interpreted from reading the manufacturer's data - PLEASE correct any mistakes or misconceptions!  I just ordered one of these.

1. The V572RF32 receives x10 RF commands, like from a PalmPad or other remote (non-security signals) and passes them to the attached PSC05.  The PSC05 converts the received RF into a PLC (PowerLine-Command) and transmitts it over the powerline.
2. The V572RF32 can also receive the 32-bit RF signals from up to 32 individual x10 security devices (SecurityRemotes, Motion Detectors, DS10A's, KeyFobs, etc.) and via internal mapping (done by the user with the included software and a PC), convert those signals to standard x10 PLC signals.  In other words, the user configures the mapping so that a signal from the FrontDoor DS10a is converted to a B7 PLC and transmitted on the powerline.  Any device addressed as B7 will receive an ON/OFF whenever the FrontDoor DS10a transmitts its status.
3. The V572RF32 does NOT repeat or retransmit the received RF signals.

Question:  Will the CM15a receive the PLC's via the PowerLine and act on them in the same manner as if it received the same signal via RF?
Question:  Other than a repeater like the SR731, is there a way to get the Security sensors'/remotes' signals transmitted to the DS7000?  Or stated another way, other than the passive antenna mods for sensors, how can one improve the reception of the DS7000?

Your interpretations (1, 2 & 3) are correct.

Question:  Will the CM15a receive the PLC's via the PowerLine and act on them in the same manner as if it received the same signal via RF?

Yes. Make sure your CM15A does not transceive any house code you have active in the V572RF32. Also keep in mind that the CM15A can still pick up the original RF signal as well as the (delayed) PLC signal from the V572RF32; this may cause double macro triggering. I chose to completely disable my CM15A receivers.

The V572RF32 will not help with the DS7000's range for sensors. You can have the CM15A retransmit your (V572RF32 received) ARM signal, but not a DISARM.

I don't have time to verify the right module numbers but you'll get the idea.

To trip the alarm with DS10A/MS10As that are out of range of the DS7000 but in the range of the V572RF32, do the following

Hook 1 DS10A up to a um506??? (uM506 set to continuous contact)
set the UM506 to say house/unit f3
register this DS10A into the DS7000
Register all your other DS10A's with the V572RF32
Have a macro triggered by the PLC house/unit code that is associated with the DS10A/MS10As on V572RF32 (let's say trigger g2 on, set F3 off)
Have the macro send a PLC to turn off the UM506 (F3)
This will break the contact on the DS10A hooked to the UM506 and will trip the DS7000 alarm since it is registered to it.

Caveat Emptor:  Your DS7000 can now be tripped by a PLC command.  I would block out all RF receive on the F housecode in this case.  That would eliminate a stray F RF signal and would leave only a PLC F command coming thru your electric service.

I don't know if you can do this with the V572RF32 but if you can set all of house/unit codes for all of the DS10A/MS10A's that you register into the V572RF32 to same house/unit as the UM506 (F3 and OFF) then you will not even need a macro to trigger the alarm.  It will be triggered directly by the V572RF32.

Here's also a link that explains another DS10A/UM506 application.
