I purchased two VT38A Floodlight cams about
1.5 week ago and after having installed the
first one the motion sensors seems to have
stopped responding.  I don't have a reciever
for the video yet so I dont' know if that's
working or not, but the only way to turn the
light on and off is through my AHP software.
I am somtimes able to get it to work again
by turning the power off for several mintutes
and then back on.  Any suggestions or is it
possible I have a bad unit?

try resetting the unit using the instruction
listed on the web at this link
http://www.x10.com/support/faq_floodcam.htm

Well this problem seems like it temporariliy
went away.  I was resetting by turning the
power off to it like described in that FAQ,
but it only remmedied it for a short time.
Now it seems like it turns on but not always
off.  Does anyone else have that problem?

hostilejava

I should say I can control it fine with the
AHP software or a remote, but it should turn
itself off after about 30sec and it does not
always do so.

tony

replace bulbs with incadecent bulbs, 75
watts. Halogen or other bulbs may cause this.

I had this problem too for a while, but now it seems that it either never turns off or it turns of and on quickly. I've been using an eagle eye to help monitor the backyard and it helps pick up motion well. Could this be the problem ? Does anyone have any info. I'm new to this stuff.

If you do a search of the forums you will find that many, including me,  have reported this same problem. Most have found these units to be very unreliable. I no longer use mine but when I was last using it, it was rewired to use  an MS16 motion sensor and an appliance module in place of the internal motion sensor.

I've been using a floodcam for 2 years. It didn't work right when I got it. A phone call to X-10 went thru the basic setup procedures.
It still didn't work right. The lights go on but won't turn off. Every thread you read regarding the floodcam will say the same thing. The lights NEVER turn off. Being the stubborn person that I am, I incorporated a standard motion detector flood light, available at any home improvement store and removed the X-10 lights. Now it works! The camera sensor is flawless and the picture quality is fine.
X10 is fully aware of problems with the floodcam, but continues to sell it anyway. >:(

Man, I wish I had read more before I sent this place my $.  Can you explain a little more about your workaround? Thanks!
