Motion Detector/Door Chime Issues
« on: May 16, 2007, 05:09:04 PM »

I bought a motion sensor and chime because I have trouble hearing the doorbell from upstairs. The sensor works too well. The thing would go off when a car came by (30ft away) or when the sun came up (I like to call this rood awakening). I also had the unit turn on the front stair lights (Unit Code 1), but at night when the motion activated, it would turn on 1 and shut off Unit Code 2 (my low voltage landscape lights), then when 1 shut off after 1 minute, Unit Code 2 would come back on. I fixed that issue by moving the codes of the units up. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make the sensor less sensative? It is mounted about 7 ft high to the left of the front entry. Thanks,Derek

Those EagleEye motion sensors (+1) dusk on code can be a pain if you dont use it.

I have had the same problem with my front door sensor..... picking up car traffic. A little well-placed tape can direct (limit) the sensors view.

As far as the sunlight... I have read of people using plastic or metal to make little hoods .... I don't know if that will work with your sensors postion.
