Welcome aboard aleis
Is your PC connected to the internet permanently or are you on dial up?
You need to know your PCs IP address eg 192.168.1.1
click on "X10dispatcher Configuration"
In the web server drop down click "Run a WebServer on Port" think default is 8080. setup the other options in that drop down.
Next go to the Startup dropdown check "Connect to x10dispatch Event Server"Type in your PCs IP address and Port default I think is 8100
restart x10dispatcher
Open your web browser type in your IP  then port: 8080 like this 192.168.1.1:8080 hit enter
the server should pop up!
If your not on dial up you can connect from another Location by typing in your IP and Port number as shown above and log on!
Make sure your firewal is set to allow this ;)l

This is so cool! :)
i`ve been reading peoples post and seeing them get replies and now im here! :)
but...mine didnt work :(
no biggie!
cause one thing i`ve learned is that it WILL get resolved! :)
so...
first, im on verizon dsl with no router.
i have a westell 6100 dsl modem from verizon.
earllier today (3/31/07) i set up port forwarding on the modem....
i read that i would need to do that to allow outside connections etc etc...
i set up x10dispatcher on port 8080 in the modems services page for port forwarding.
i did that because the new x10 internet connection test(http://www.x10.com/support/netinfo/netinfoadvance.htm) failed.
once i setup port forwarding it passed.
i thought i was done and went to another computer (a different house) to try to test it...and it did not connect!
but i have faith! :)
right now im getting the Cannot Find Server page on my computer....
do i need to be at another computer (in another house) to connect using the IP?
in x10dispatcher you can use F12 to view the webserver...on my home computer.
any ideas anyone??????  :-[

It's been awhile since I used the web server!
I'm on router with several other PCs connected I can connect from any of them or view the page via F12 in x10dispatcher! when you first fire up dispatcher you should get a message like"do you wish to run x10 locally(cm15a must be connected to this computer)" if not your missing a setting. Clicking ok engages the server! ;)
If you can press F12 and the web server comes up the address you type in should be what appears in the address window of your browser! ;) :D ;D

If you keep failing to connect drop a e-mail  to Dave requesting his help or try posting in the X10dispatcher thread at Accessha Dave watches that forum a little more closely then this one! ;)

just wanted everyone to know it works now!!! :)
except at home which isnt a problem.
and at work...which is a PROBLEM!
but i may never get it working here (corp. firewall, download restrictions, losing my job etc etc!).
i also got myhouse online registered finally!
so...i may try to use that to view my IP webcam when it arrives.
that was my intentions...
x10dispatcher has its uses but i really want live feed...
seems myhouse online will do that for me.
much thanks to the Tuiceman!! :)

If you can't use X10dispatcher from your office you most likely won't be able to use Myhouse online either from there! :(
How ever some offices will allow MS messanger And dispatcher works with it! ;)
If all else fails you can have x10dispatcher or Myhouse E-mail you with pics ;) ;D
One thing you can set  x10dispatcher to update the pics more frequently think the minimum is every 10 sec. ;)

dude!
im so upset right now...
the camera was advertised as an IP camera but its just a regular web cam!
$15 on ebay...
6 (bright!) LED`s very clear...
even OKAY at night!
is it a way i could either...
view it as streaming video...
or have it send pics through x10 disp. or MHO?
my thing is..i do not have the va11a...yet!
x10 i believe is sending me one free as i remember the x10guy from the site mention "the va11a should be included with software that requires it" or something to that effect :)
so i copied it and sent it in an email to x10 tech support.
will see what happens with that.
worst case scenario, i do not get the va11a from x10, can i still use the USB webcam to stream the video in real time?
through MHO or x10 dispatcher?
remote desktop isnt an option.
i have winxp home edition sp2.
TIA!  ;)

You can't use iwitness(iwatchout) without the VA11A and MHO needs that plug-in to send pics/video You can find the VA11A on e-Bay got mine there for $15.
Dispatcher won't send video only pics.
You could use the free REAL VNC I had used it for years! It's like remote desktop but works with any windows platform!
You could also possibly use x10s free program Xray Vision it will stream or so X10 says! I haven't used it in years!
The problem Is I don't know if either will work from your work! :( ::) ???
If your going to be using X10dispatcher,REAL VNC or Xray Vision you don't need the VA11A but do need a capture card to get the info from the cam to the PC! ;)

could it be i dont need a capture card???
i was able to get xray vision loaded on my home PC, it automatically found the usb cam, started showing motion immediately!!
then i sent an email and it was sent out and received!
apparently i now need to download the client version on my work PC and i can view streaming video...
i can see that happening being that xray vision acts as a server with an IP address (my local IP on my home computer) and has a port number.
from the client i need to inter the ID (server information) and password.
will let you know how that turns out when i try it after work.
im afraid to do it now cause im not sure what the client software does to corp network.
im going to be on the safe side and test it from another PC :)
Tuiceman if you available any time this morning, email me at chizzy58@gmail.com and i`ll give you the ID and password (of course i`ll change it later lol) and if you can see something you could let me know? :)
otherwise i have to wait.....................in this internet age...........UGH!

:)
