No communication with CM15A or modules
« on: May 23, 2007, 10:12:38 AM »

I just posted about a camera issue, but I'm also haveing problems with AHP communicating with the CM15A.  I'm running Windows Vista ultimate, so I'm wondering if there is a software issue with AHP working on Vista?  When I go to Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager under USB controllers I do see an entry for X10 USB ActiveHome (ACPI-complaint) and it says it's drivers are working ok.  When I open AHP I also get an error message that says:

Your ActiveHome Pro systems has the iwitness plugin installed and registered but Activehome Pro is unable to connect to the USB Video Capture Device (VA11A).

Please check that the USB video capture device is plugged in and working properly.  Check that no other X10 camera software is running.  Only one X10 camera application can be in use at a time.

I don't have a VA11A because I thought that was only needed to connect one camera directly to the computer.  My video security system consists of a a CM15A, a video receiver (VR31A) and a XCam2 WideEye InstantON camera model XC19A.  I am hoping to connect another couple of cameras once I get this one to work, and some other modules.  Currently, when I add the camera in AHP and view the video there is nothing there.  I have the module set to the correct address (A1) as well as the power supply on the camera so I know that's not it.  I've done an uninstall and reinstall of the AHP software, but with the same results.  Also, the camera and the CM15A are plugged into the same outlet, and the USB cable is running to my PC, I've moved the camera to within a couple of inches of the CM15A since I've heard there are some known issues with the antenna reception on those.  Any ideas what I should try next?

Thanks,
Tom

If you do an Advanced Search you'll find many posts about Vista and AHP Problems and a work around for the VA11A driver install
You do need the VA11A to see your pics on the PC, this is connected to the video receiver.
You only need one VA11A no matter how many cams you have.
Call X10 and request a VA11A or get one from E-bay. You need this for the AHP plug-in to work!
The plug-in will not work with any other video capture device! :( :'(
