tm751 work with the security console?
« on: March 07, 2008, 11:00:33 AM »

All,

I have recently purchased the tm751 mini transceiver, a few rocker switches, and palm pads to play around with x10.  I also have the x10 home security alarm.  With the home security alarm will it also relay messages from air frequencies from the palmpads to the power lines?  Or will my transceiver module act alone?  Will the two interfere with each other?  Will they relay messages off of each other?

If the security system you are referring to is the DS7000 (PS561 base), then it is a functional single house-code transceiver like the TM751, and you can use the palmpad remote to control modules thru it.

You can have both PS561 & TM751 transceivers operating at the same time, but they have to be set to different house-codes to avoid signal collision problems. Of course the remote & any modules you want to control with the remote would have to be set to one or the other as well.

Thanks so what you're saying basically is I really don't need the TM751 at this point because the console replaces it?  I'm also assuming the console has a large range and works more efficiently than the tm751?

That's correct; you don't really need the TM751.

For RF reception, the PS561 is definitely one of the better units made by X10, so you should get very good range using the palmpad remote.
