Magnavox TB100MW9 Digital/Analog Converter
« on: February 18, 2008, 04:21:44 PM »

Greetings all:
My latest addition to the television center is a Magnavox TB100MW9 Digital/Analog Converter.  It comes with a very funky, barely useable remote and I'd like to get something like the Icon that will control it, along with the tv, dvd, vcr, etc.

Does anyone know if this remote can be programmed to control this DTV converter box?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry Geewiz... I am not a Icon user myself... but would like to borrow some space on your thread for some links and info.

In one year from this post......in the USA... all over-the air analog TV signals will stop.

The Magnavox Digital Converter box< a link, you mentioned. I also included a link for an RCA DTA800 Digital TV Converter Box. These converter boxes are what will be needed for most older TV's to convert the new digital signal to an analog signal.

The American government is offering a $40 coupon to defray the cost of conversion. This coupon can be applied for on-line HERE.

Users with cable may not need the digital converter as 2012 is when they are required to carry analog with exceptions [Yes Government always has EXCEPTIONS! ::)]
Few more links:

I will see what I can find out about the ICON. If memory serves me it can learn commands but it has been awhile since I tried mine.

Oops... looks like I edited OUT where I had mentioned over-the-air signals. (Of course) Your right Brian H for most cable box TV users... no conversion will be needed. However... since the converters are $50 and the coupon is for $40... it might be worth 10 bucks to have one handy.
