Why should I buy a new model when my VT44A never worked?

A 6 Volt DC, 300mA Power supply? To what?

That't the result that the X10 Wiki gives, but it must be a Video Transmitter he's referring to.  I know about a VT42A, but I don't recognize what the VT44A is.
