Access Home Automation R.I.P.
Well gang it looks like this is the end of the road for Access Home Automation. On Friday October 12th, 2007 AccessHA.com will be closing up shop. There were many reasons leading up to this decision but the bottom line is that I can no longer afford to operate the site. I would like to truly thank everyone who participated in the forums and assisted in the day-to-day operation of the site. I’ve truly enjoyed the experience and wish everyone the best of luck in their home automation endeavors.

Thanks for the heads up Duck69.

That was a GREAT forum in it's time - sad to see it go. TM used to hang around there a lot...

Bummed.

Bryan, what sort of expenses do you see, running a board such as Access HA?

Thanks for the heads up Duck69. I did his CM15A External Antenna Mod myself and found the exchange of data a big help. It will be missed.  :(

Bummer!   :(

One of only a hand-full of forums I have bothered to join.

Too bad to lose all of that help and information.

In the real world, the only constant is change.

When I'm online you can find me in the Home Automation Chat Room!

Those VBulletin Forums are EXPENSIVE to legally use... you have to pay I think like $200 a year just for a license, then you still have to pay for your domain and hosting costs... So my advice to anybody wanting to start something like that site, use PHPbb for your forums since it is free, then get a domain from 1and1.com because it is only $6 a year (with privacy protection) unlike GoDaddy which is like $17 (with privacy protection), and hosting you can always find a friend to host you.

If whoever owns that site wants to keep it going, I can host it and pay for the domain, but the forum will need to be PHPbb or something free -- there is no point in spending so much on a forum license...

Update. They are still running and saying improvements are in the works.  :)
