problems with x10 switches

I have several x10 switches that are made for florescent lights. I am having trouble identifying the source of line noise. Close to the two 4 way switch assemblies, is my room with 4 computers, 1 color laser printer and Several florescent ceiling lights plus a wireless setup for pda's. I have panamax surge suppressors on the large appliances: refrigerator, gas oven and range (the ingnitor circuit) and a microwave oven. In this house also is a 1,500 watt inverter that supplies power to the computers. All other circuits are powered by public electric power. At various times, my controllers: an ss13A simply stop working. They fail to activate any of the remote switches. But, after about 30 minutes, everything works!.

Does anybody have suggestions just how I can find the source of line noise? I don't want to buy expensive equipment. Just provide me with a common sense method.

Yeah. Well then dont buy one... borrow the FREE one from automated outlet. (It's a loaner)

This is a great public service that they offer. However, be warned... Once you find out how handy this item is you'll want to keep it. 
Till you get it, there's always the switches at the circuit breaker. i.e. Disconnect & see if things get better.

I thought that too... till I looked at that equipment list:
