New to X10 problems
« on: March 30, 2008, 09:24:42 PM »

Here's the layout, all on the same AC breaker / phase.  TM751 Transceiver Module, PLW01 Wall switch receiver, with a MS14A Motion Sensors. All set for housecode A and Unit Code 1.  The PLW01 Wall Switch (for outside porch lights) works by itself, on, off and dimmer.   The MS14A does trigger the TM751, on and off.  But does not trigger the PLW01 Wall Switch to light the outside lights.  What am I missing here?

Thank,

The only thing you might be overlooking is noise blocking the PLC signal from the TM751 getting to the PLW01 over the powerlines. If all the modules are new and never had a history of working correctly, I suppose you could have defective receive circuity in the PLW01 or defective transmit circuitry in the TM751. But noise is more probable

What else do you have on that breaker?

Breaker = Outdoor lighting and a few bedroom outlets

That helps.

Is this a new set-up...has it ever worked yet?

Is the breaker a GFI?

IF no, Do you have GFIs in the outdoor outlets?

If yes,  Could the PLW01 be on the line feeding the GFIs?

Some GFIs stop X10 in it's tracks, so if you are using the "feed thru" function of a GFI outlet, and the PLW01 is on that part of the branch (after the GFI) that could be a problem.

Besides that possibility,  it still could be a noise problem. Unplug everything but the TM751 and see if it triggers then.

Also, buy a mini controller, they are cheap and make good troubleshooting tool.

No. has never work.  Just the MS14A to the TM751, but not the PLW01 Switch.
No GFI breaker or outlets.
Will double check and unplug everything.  And will try on another circuit set up. Just to try??
With also check into a mini controller, any suggestion's

Thank again and again.
