Are AHP packages services or client apps?
« on: July 05, 2008, 09:53:17 AM »

Does AHP and services (like Alert) run as a service, requiring just the computer to start up, or do I have to launch client apps in order for certain features - like e-mail alerts - to run?

In order to get AHP to send emails and other internet functions, you only have to have your pc running.
I have had AHP send me emails through outlook express, but Outlook express was not running.

Most of the scheduled home automation functions (timers and macros) in AHP are run through the X10Net service, and so will work even if the AHP application isn't open. If you have functions stored in the CM15A then they will of course run without the application running.

Camera and internet functions require the AHP application to be running. I assume this is also true of the security system related functions, but I'm not sure of that.
