'wireless' system - can the camera cords get wet?
« on: July 25, 2008, 06:01:51 PM »

We are ready to mount our cameras but it seems like the wires to the cameras from the outlet to the camera aren't weatherproof, although it says the cameras are.

Can the wires get wet?    ???

Thanks much!

What camera model are you referring to?

If you are referring to an X10 wireless camera (as per the title), then the power cable is weather proof. The camera end of the cable is also weather proof, but the power supply end must be protected from the weather. You need to plug the power supply inside the house or somewhere that will prevent it from getting wet.

If the power cord is too short, you can add an extension. Radio Shack usually sells 3-conductor audio extension cables that work for this.

Yep... that's the camera I'm referring to.  So, just the power supply must be inside?  I guess then you have to run through a window or something.  I don't want to run wires thru the exterior walls.

Thanks for the quick response!
