Couple questions- AM466 & heater
« on: October 22, 2008, 09:07:45 AM »

hi,

electricity newbie here..just wondering- i have these 550 W oil filled radiant heaters ..i'm told that i have to be careful when using extension cords that they have to be a certain gauge to handle the heater (i guess risk of fire). Anyone know if there's any risk using an am466 module with it? Or is the AM466 built to handle these things?

2nd- are there any flood/water detectors out there? either associated with x10 or not..something that can alert of water either by email or text/phone or some kind of alarm?

thanks!

You heater is considered a  resistive load and the AM466 will handle 15 amps or over 1500Watts of resistive load.

Search the forum for "Leak Detector"  to find X10 products and the X10 CM15A for email.

A simpler stand alone unit with no email.
