I'm doing a volunteer job for a local group home.

If I program the modules at home, can disconnect them at my wall sockets and plug them into the ones at the group home, without losing the settings?

I guess I should have asked if such modules exist at all.

Yes. Otherwise all modules would reset when the house power is lost...and that would make users immensely unhappy.

BTW most of the "plug-in" X10 modules actually have physical mechanical code wheels set with a screwdriver.

The modules themselves are not "programmed". They are only set to particular house codes and unit numbers. If you need them to go on and off at programmed times, you'll need to bring your PC interface module or other timer-equipped transmitter like a mini-timer.

If you're new to using X10 products and particularly if you do plan to implement timed events, give us an idea what your goal is and we might be able to give you some tips that could save you time and minimize the need for trouble shooting.
