I know it takes IR signals from universal remotes and sends them over the power lines but does it also act as a repeater for X10 remotes like the HR12A? My computer I use for AHP is in my basement running AHP and some other server programs I'm using and will stay there mounted in my enclosure. My CM15A is close by but still in the basement so range is not that great. I have the iPhone X10Commander app and it works great over my wifi but I don't want to have to use this as a remote all the time. If the IR543 does NOT act as a repeater is there something that will? I'd like to keep my CM15A hooked up to my server 24/7.

In a word NO. The IR543 merely [and only] takes X10 IR signals and puts the same code to the powerlines.

Why not just use that PalmPad remote... and let your CM15A transceive it? I keep my HA PC in the basment.

Thanks for the answer. I may just install a new outlet above my equipment in the basement so the CM15A is just below the joist. It's almost strong enough where it is but not at he farthest point away from it. So there isn't any kind of repeater for the CM15A's then?

Yeah... there are RF repeaters... you can find then at smarthome or ebay. I am not recommending one though. You might want to read up on an antenna modification to the CM15A.

Thanks for the reply. I have read that thread and may end up doing that as a last resort. I'm sure it will void my warranty.

I ended up just putting in one of those ceiling light fixtures that has a built in plug above my server. The USB cable reaches and I more than doubled the range of the remotes. Just moving it vertically 6ft.

Yep.... and using a little tape to add 9 1/4 inches of coat hanger wire to the plastic antenna on the CM15A could add just enough extra reception to fix your problems. It's helped some... and it doesn't void a warranty.

By the way.... some have also used a USB extention... and was able to locate the CM15A up to 16 feet from the PC.
