DS7000 Sounders Over Ride..OFF and ON
« on: May 24, 2009, 10:39:17 AM »

I wanted to install a Toggle Switch so I could "Over Ride" the sounders whenever I was Arming or Disarming the system in the early morning hours when letting the dogs out. This way i didn't wake everyone up!!!!

STEPS on the Mod:

FIRST OFF: THIS WILL VOID THE WARRANTY ON THE UNIT

Step 1: Remove the 4 screws on the back of the unit. 3 are under the rubber cushions and the 4th one is in the battery compartment.

2: Carefully separate the 2 halves (the wires inside are SHORT so be very careful!)

3: Locate the spot you want to install the toggle and drill your hole. Make sure and pick the placement carefully!! Because when it comes time to place the unit back together you don't   want the toggle to be in the way of something on the other half of the unit.

4: Locate the 2 White Sounder Wires and decide which one you want to cut.

5: Make 2 "Jumper Wires" and connect to Terminal Connectors and clip on to the toggle. I used shrink tubing to cover them afterwards, to help hold them and to make sure nothing grounded/shorted out.

6: Install the toggle in the hole

7: CAREFULLY cut the sounder wire, and strip the both ends.

8: Take the Sounder Wire coming from the PC Board and connect it to the "OFF" terminal on the toggle ( I twisted my wires together and then used Shrink Tubbing to hold them together. Just because of the wires being so small and the area being so tight, I didn't want to burn anything up trying to solder them)

9: Now connect the wire from the Sounder to the "ON" terminal of the toggle (just like the other wire, twist and shrink tub it)

10: Carefully put the 2 halves back together and screw in place

  >! That's it !!!!!!! Now you can "Over Ride" the sounders when Arming or Disarming your system....

Hope you find this usefull
