Comcast Voice Interference with X10?
« on: August 27, 2009, 05:00:01 PM »

Am thinking about getting Comcast Digital Voice, but am a bit concerned about the battery back-up causing problems for my CM15A / x-10 signal, as I have heard computer UPS are notorious for causing problems.  Anyone have any direct experience with this?

I have Comcast cable, phone and internet and have not seen any problems with X10. The modem that came with mine is a Motorola unit with built in battery back up.

The only problem I have ever had with the Comcast Digital phone system is that some cordless phones do not work with it. My Cobra cordless phones would not ring on incoming calls. I had to buy new cordless phones (Panasonic) and all is fine. They use to have a list of problem phones on their web sit.

If it has a wall wart power supply and it is of the more modern switching type. It may absorb X10 signals or put noise on the power line.
If it does an X10 type AC line filter on the wall wart would be a good way to fix it.
