X-10 CP290 Controller Software -- Help!

I cannot find the Windows software that came with my CP290 controller -- all I have is the
DOS program, which I cannot get to run.

I'm using an old laptop running Windows 98SE for this, because it is the only computer in
the house that has an RS-232 port.  (My Vista machines don't have this.)

I've spoken to X-10's tech support, and their best suggestion was to see if I could find
anyone here who could find / send / link me to a copy of the old Windows (Lighthouse?)
software for this product.

Many thanks in advance!

I do remember reading a post from someone else asking for this program But can't remember if a link was posted ?
Do an Advanced Search here using Lighthouse as the key word it will bring up the post! ;)

Would this be of any help, Lighthouse ??

My recollection is that Lighthouse runs under Windows 3.1 but won't run under later versions of Windows.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.

I hesitated to post.... lighthouse is before my X10 experiences.... but I would guess the DOS program IS the program. You can run SOME older (DOS) programs on newer versions of windows.

The non-X10 software called X10WC seems to still be around.

The CP290 came out in the middle 1980's I bought mine from a now vanished Heath Electronics store on Joppa Road in Baltimore.  There were Windows shareware programs for Windows 3 and 95.  I used mine up to 1998, when Active Home and the CM11A came from my local X10 dealer when the 290 lost the address A6.  I used that until upgrading to Windows XP and running into the vanishing COM Port problem, when Active Home Pro and CM15A came to run my X10 system.
I don't SELL this stuff... BUT I sure do ENJOY using it!!!

I know this an old post, but I just want to put it out there that I DO have the original Lighthouse floppys (both DOS and Windows). I used it successfully (even on Vista) until I lost my computer in July. Never reinstalled it, just copied the folder from computer to computer and it always ran. But I lost the folder. I now have both X10WC and xtenWIN installed on my 32 bit Vista laptop, which is the only thing I have left with a serial port. Both programs communicate with the CP290. X10WC is more sophisticated, but the author is long dead and I can't register it.
