Variations on the Transceiver Module
« on: September 21, 2009, 12:16:17 AM »

As far as I can tell, there is only one interface for the wireless remotes and that is the TM751 X10 Wireless Transceiver.  I find this a bit limiting since the TM751 is only a two prong appliance device and it grabs address 1 for itself and cannot be changed.  I thought that some very simple changes to the TM751 would make it more usable.  First, offer a version that is 3-prong capable.  Most homes are now wired that way, so it is almost universal anyway.  The extra cost is trivial.  This would allow me to save the cost of another appliance module that does have three prongs.

I also thought that the transceiver functionality could be built into another type of unit that also plugs into the wall.  For instance, the Mini-Controller (MC460) is a good candidate for upgrade.  It could serve as a wired transmitter and as a base station for remotes.

Thanks for the opportunity to input ideas.
