Eliminate the eagle eye and active eye off commands
« on: April 02, 2010, 05:22:13 PM »

I only want my outdoor motion sensors to issue an on command.  I never want them to send an off command.

Surely there is a way to do this either via mod or programming.  Has anyone figured out a work around???

Thanks!!

map it to another house code, but don't map the off command.

I do not understand??

The active eye and the eagle eye both activate an on command when motion is sensed and then after a specified user adjustable amount of time activate an off command.  This causes havoc on my camera setup as I always want them on no matter what.  I do not see an option to disable the off command on the motion sensor itself.

I am not talking about active home pro or ihouse or any other software.  I am talking about the motion sensor itself.

Can you help me??

There is no way to disable the off command provided in the modules setup or through commands.
I have not seen any modifications to disable it either. Only ones I have seen are the ones to stop the dusk dawn sending.

The only X10 Motion Sensor I have ever seen only send On signals is the RoboDog DM10A that was discontinued. Many also found the DM10 quite LARGE compared to the other models.

If never means never - then I agree, I think you're into one heckuva mod.
If never means "256 minutes"... :)  then there's hope.

I think you just have to accept that the Off command is coming and deal with it in some way.

Setting the motion detect interval low, in my case, helped keep a stream of On commands coming so I know motion is still taking place.

There has to be a circuit board inside it that has one copper traceon it that needs to be cut.  Be nice to figure out whick trace it is to do this.  ;-)

Yup... the one that says "battery".  ;)

Actually it is not not likely. It most likely contains a one-time programmable device with one output to the transmitter. A mod for this would be more of a redesign.

I am all for modifications and altering or outright making hardware... if that is what is needed. But much of this stuff is much better [as well as easier to do] when a smart processor is used. The CM15A... or a computer used for Home Automation... can make a world of difference.

I ordered the cm15a when x10 had their million dollar heist this week.

It is a huge shame they use Fedex smart post which in the delivery world is the longest possible delivery time available besides parcel post.

Usps has a wonderful priority and first class flat rate service that gets to people in an average of 2 days.  This service is not only faster but cheaper, I know because I researched it.  Seeing as x10 is so big on making money why don't they kill 2 birds with one stone??

I will NEVER order another product directly from x10 again even with the 20% off from mrrebates.com it's not worth it having to wait 10 days from the purchase date to receive your products.

Yes I did speak to customer service about this and they sure do have a ton of excuses as to why they use this "worthless" service.

Once I get the cm15a I will screw around with it and test it out.  I really do not need so many functions when all I really want is to be able to record motion on my property and nothing more.  I have found the abelcam software to do this very well and was worth the 30 dollars I spent on it.

Sorry for the rant but I needed to vent.

There is no trace to cut. It is a part of the firmware burned into the controller chip.
The MS16A Active Eye has a adjustment pot in it. I tried looking for a schematic that may show a way to keep it from timing out for the off, but could not find one [YET].

X10 isn't the only vendor to switch to Smartpost. Smarthome has the nerve to call Smartpost there "Deluxe Ground Shipping". I can't imagine what there "Economy Ground Shipping" would be.
From the X10 warehouse in NJ. The FedEx Ground would get to my home in one or two days. Now it is like a week from NJ. to CT.

Did you get the AHP $29.99 package and add the $20.00 upgrade deal?
Seems the X10 split the older full package and dropped the add on software modules for $29.99. Then charges $20 to put them back with a few added items. So the old price of $49.99 with add on software modules was matched. Got to love those marketing folks.

Why not do this with a macro.  have the macro use the on as the trigger and activate a different H/U code, and just leave the off trigger out of the picture.

I just wanted the cm15a to mess around with so I bought the 29.99 deal.  I used my 20% off on mrrebates.com and that brought it down a bit further.

I would rather not use a home automation software which is why I am not considering using the macro.

I like the thought on the active eye about figuring out the time delay pot switch.  That would seem to be the best way around it.  I may take mine apart and figure out what the "dealio" is.

HEY X10:  NO MORE FEDEX SMART POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Puck, why did you move this topic??   It has nothing to do with macros.  That is the whole point.

Puck, why did you move this topic??

I moved it out of the "User Modified Devices" because the thread is not a modification for others to share. It is a question / inquiry for a mod. If someone posts a mod that satisfies what you are looking for I will gladly move it back.

Note the section I moved it:

"X10 Community Forum > General Home Automation > Troubleshooting Automation Problems"

It also has nothing to do with macros. I choose this spot as it was the best fit based on the objective of your original post.
