I have a macro that tells A1 (floodlights) to turn on with E1 trigger, after sunset, before sunrise, delay 1 minute, turn off.  Lately, I have notices A1 lights on at different times during the day.  I turn them of manually and repeat this several times a day.  I unplugged the CM15A.  Same thing happened.  Would you think it's noise, stray signal, or a bad switch?  This is the only A house code I am using.

Very rare for noise to turn on or off modules. Usually it just stops X10 signals from getting to the target which results in nothing happening.

Do you have another tranceiver besides the CM15A?
If so look for a motion sensor with weak batteries that has defaulted to the A1 code.

I use the A code for testing (in my office). Of course I don't use the A1 code. The reason behind this is most X10 modules, devices, and remotes (including remotes that come with button batteries) are set to the A1 by default. By having the A code available: I can test new items items quickly. By not using the A1 code: I am somewhat assured that as the batteries start to fail in a extra remote in a drawer.. or extra part in my parts bin.. the errant A1 signal that sometimes can be sent should NOT effect my setup.

It sounds to me like you have an effant A1 code being sent. It very likely is from a remote (without the code dials) or a "eye" motion sensor with old and/or failing batteries. As the batteries fail.. the unit will default to the A1 code... and then when it sends a signal it is A1. I've read of a user having a box of extra X10 parts... and after much searching found an item triggering an extra unused remote. But motion sensors would be my first thought.

I don't have any active motion sensors but I do have some palm pad remotes around in my 'spare parts box'.  I'll change the code from A1 to something else and remove the batteries from the stuff I'm not using.  I should do that anyway as I have ruined devices with corroded batteries.
