This isn't really X10 related, specifically, but I had to share.

Be careful how you phrase things when writing a living will!

The other night my wife and I sat down to make out living wills.

When I had her read mine, wherein I had stated that if I were ever in a vegetative state, dependent on machines and fluids from a bottle, she should just pull the plug, she got up, took my remote, unplugged the computer and the TV and poured out my beer!   :o

Cute!

As much as anyone... I am dependent on the latest technology available. Last years eight day power outage was a reminder to me just how much I enjoy my cable TV and broadband Internet. Not to mention electric lights. And honestly I missed hearing Kates Voice as well.

But let us be honest about this. There is a lot of work involved in creating an automated house. I know I've ran and fished wire, planned and re-planned macros, troubleshooting and tracking down problems as I went, or even after a setup had seemed stable. Although I've had very good luck with X10 products myself... I don't depend on X10's estimates for setup time to plan my weekends, ether.

Recent efforts (and progresses) I've made with my setup has had me on my HA PC for hours perfecting macros that were already correct... but defeated by a mis-set powerflash module. And then there was the time spent in the garage making test devices.

Sure it was all worth it! Heck it was even a hoot doing it. But lets not give the new guys the idea that X10 setups require no effort or investment of time.
Home Automation is an always changing technology

Reader's Digest perhaps?

Actually, my own adaptation of a story I received in email.  ;)
