Hello all.  I've searched the past few days and not sure I'm in the right spot... hopefully I am.

I have used x-10 for several years.  I don't have the software on my computer.  I have one or two outlets that plug into the walls that I run lamps off of that work fine.   

My lights in my kitchen, hallway, and living room are overhead lights (floodlight looking things).   Each room has 4 lights run off one switch.  I've installed the wall switches and the wall switches operate correctly.   (all three rooms are on the same circuit if that matters)

When using any of the x-10 remotes with a transiever (plugged into an outlet in the living room) It is pretty hit and miss when it will work.  #1 is my living room.  I have to turn it on and off several times (usually hear the transciever click when I do this) and sometimes have to hold down #1 on for a long time before the lights come on.  Same goes for dimming...sometimes have to press and hold for a long time (10secs?) before it starts to dim....

I have tried several remotes and I also have some harmony remotes with the Ir543?  All operate the same way as mentioned above.   

I have a fan in my bedroom (operated with an x-10 wall switch) that works fine with the remote.... one click and its on or off...no problem.

This leads me to believe its something with the lights?  These lights are not flourescent...(I've tried flourescent and know that it doesn't work with x-10)Any suggestions...?

Possibly noise.   Have you added any new electronic items?  Check the Forums for Noise.

You did say the lights where standard Incadescent?
The wall switches are the two wire type?
Do they turn on and off slowly? As the newer switches have soft start.
Any repeaters or phase couplers in the setup?

Three wire could be one that has a companion to trigger it from a second location, or uses the Line Load and Neutral power wires.
Is the switch controlled by a second or more companion switches?

no...only one switch per section of lights....
