Wireless IR Security Cameras
« on: January 22, 2010, 09:51:33 PM »

Looking for a product recommendation. I need a security camera that will allow me to transmit wirelessly over 300', have decent night vision capability of 50' (if possible) or two cameras that will work for 20' each and I would prefer the capability of having them record to my hard drive for later review. What would be the most cost effective recommendation? The area where I am wanting to use this system is outdoors around our horses and totally dark.

Also, we use a Macintosh. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Steve

I would like to recommend or suggest to you this Videocomm ZX-480SR40 5.8GHz wireless IR security. It is easy to install and operate.  My sister uses this in her house as an eye to her kids while she's still at work.

I agree with mykah093.

With those requirements X10 is probably not a solution. Wireless range , especially if going through walls, is MAYBE 50 feet or less. and X10 low cost B&W cameras are low light but not no-light. Night time video requires flood lights. X10 does have the Sentinel camera which does have fair night vision, but it will never make the wireless range and is + $500.
