Hi everyone.

I installed XPS3 + Fluorescent(CFL) around my house. Most of them work excellent.

However, I have problems with some modules because the CFL usually blink ON.

Can someone post a step-by-step solution? I read other post about to install a 1/2 watt 22k ohm resistor across the load, but I don't understand how to do that. (I'm not a electrician!) 

I'd appreciate any help !!!!!!!

Do they pulse or turn completely back on when turned off?
I don't think we have ever had a report of an XPS3 pulsing a CFL or turning back on.

If there is more than one CFL on an XPS3. As a test only if one is changed to a incandescent bulb does it fix the problem?

My math says a 22K 1/2W is too small wattage wise. Closer to .65 watts.

You may want to double check that the Neutral Power Wire to the XPS3 is OK.

They pulse (flash), they don't back on.

There are only one CFL on an XPS3. I installed an incandescent bulb and it fix the problem. Only happen with CFL bulb.

For example, I have a couple XPS3 using the same Neutral Power Wire. One XPS3 works fine, the other have the problem.  But I have three more XPS3 alone and they have the same problem.  The rest of the XPS3 work fine.

OK I did some tests with some very low current LED bulbs as I can't find any CFLs that blink on my tester with an XPS3.
They do glow when off so it is possible some model CFLs may pulse when off. From the is my relay on or off sensing current.

On the XPS3 with problems. Are both sets of Load and Neutral terminals used? If not you maybe able to put the resistor from the extra Load to the extra Neutral terminal of the XPS3. If you have an extra Load and Neutral on the XPS3. Let us know and we maybe able to talk you through SAFELY connecting a resistor. I would use a 56K to 100K 1/2 Watt for the size. 56K would be around .28 watts and 100K about .157 watts both giving a .500 watt resistor a good safety margin.

  Yesterday at night, I replaced the CFL bulb for a new one... and, yes, the problem was resolved.


- I had bought a six-pack of Sylviania's CFL bulbs a few weeks ago.  Yesterday, I tested all the bulbs and two of them blinked.
- I bought a new GE's CFL bulb, and it works fine.
- I tested other bulb, this one made by ACE, and It works fine.

Maybe the problem could be happen due to a defective CFL bulbs (or the cheaper ones!) 

I think we could resolve this kind of problem if we buy a better bulbs.


However, I could like to know how install a resistor. I reviewed my installation and I have both Neutral and Load connections.

Yes some brands of CFLs are more prone to blinking with small currents.
Sorry I didn't suggest trying a different CFL.
