Motion chimes no longer work.
« on: May 13, 2010, 09:44:39 PM »

I have a very simple question.

Everything I had was working just fine then it all of a sudden stopped.

I have light switches and lamp modules on B1-B7,  I have dedicated B8 to my motion remote chime.  I have a single eagle eye in my driveway.  This is a very simple setup.

All of my lamp/appliance modules work perfect, no problems whatsoever.

My motion chimes stopped working last week all of a sudden.  I was thinking the chime module went bad so I bought two new ones and I get the same thing, no chime. I can use a hand held remote to test them and I get nothing.

I have a pzz01 phase coupler/filter in my panel.

What would cause just the motion chime to stop working?

Does the hand held remote control any other devices and do they still work?
If not I would look at the module or console being used to tranceive the RF signals back to the power line.
If it is a CM15A AHP console. make sure the Tranceived House Codes you are using are enabled.
If it was only the motion sensor then the batteries maybe weak and it reset to A1.

Everything works except the motion chime.  I ended up plugging the motion chime into a plug in transceiver and it is a temporary fix.  I set the transceiver to C and the motion sensor to C1 so now the transceiver actually turns the chime on and off.

I have an ir543 and a universal remote which wont even set the motion chime off.  As for the transceiver on the b channel I am using the black home security system box.

Does the motion chime require say more of a stronger signal than the lamp/appliance modules to set them off??  I just don't understand why it would just stop working all of a sudden.

All of my lights still work perfect as well as the plug in transceiver turning on and off.

I don't get it!!

The transceiver receives RF... and the chime works on PLC (PowerLine Command). The transceiver is merely powering the chime on/off which causes it to chime.

The chime requires no more or less a PLC signal than anything else... it would be my guess (and a good test) if you plugged a spare appliance module (set to the chime H/U address) into the same receptacle as the chime... the appliance module will also fail to work. If your phase coupler is working... then the logical deduction would be line noise or signal sucker. Often this is caused by something like a new cell phone charger... or some other such device. What has recently been added to your powerline (plugged-in)?

Because the weather warmed here....  I just recently set out a couple tower fans. They are turned On/Off and controlled by a IR remote so even when Off they put noise on my powerline. So much noise... that they disrupt X10 signals. I had to put one fan on a filter.
